OnMaterials participated in the event Circular Economy: Developing Sustainable Solutions and Transition Models that was co-organized by the Institut Français d’Athènes – French Institute of Athens together with LUDD Makerspace and Circul’R.
The circular economy is not limited to recycling.
We are facing a delicate transition that requires more waste reduction and increased recycling. There is a need to redesign and re-evaluate commodities, products, production systems, value chains, business models and international policies.
The event brought together companies, researchers, institutes, public organizations and volunteers in order to examine the different approaches to the circular economy both theoretically and practically. In doing so, we all attempted to answer the following questions:
- How to create sustainable products and services in a world compatible with a sustainable climate?
- How can we encourage this transition and realize opportunities?
- What are the social, political and economic challenges that stand in the way of a sustainable circular economy?
